Barn Party - May 2004
After over 12 months of work we decided it was time to officially open our Bar(n). In my books that's gotta mean a PARTY! Here's the first batch of pictures.
We fired up the barbecue, got the beer in and invited a load of friends over. The plan was for a quiet night in with a few mates. Hmm, well we all know the phrase about "best laid plans".
Anyway, after a few games of pool and a few (dozen) bevvies someone had the bright idea that it might be fun to play chess . . . drinking chess. Only one person was foolish enough to volunteer for this, our friend and resident beer monster Mr Jim Chapman. This meant that it was down to the host to provide the challenge, well how could I resist? One word - idiot! A supporting cast of loonies meant that the rules were very quickly abandoned and it degenerated in to a drinking competition the likes of which would challenge George Best.
When we finally dragged ourselves away from the chess board we decided it was time to freshen up with a dunk in the pool. I think Andy and Kate got the wrong end of the stick when I said "fresh"! I retired gracefully to our chill out area for a quiet smoke . . . it's a shame nobody else wanted to join in.
It was a good party. There was nothing illegal, plenty immoral and everyone was outrageous. There are lots more pictures and even some video. If I can get organised I might even get it on the web before the next party. Knowing me though, I doubt it!
