Edinburgh: Historic city, capital of Scotland and official home to the royal family on their frequent visits north of the border.

Edinburgh: Home to the famous military tattoo , the Fringe Festival, countless students and of course many bars, pubs and clubs!

Edinburgh: Location of the Hillsmeisters stag do!

Saturday Morning
A stag do indeed, but before we got in to the full swing of things Dave and I found the time to have a brisk walk around the city and see a few of the sites. I'm glad we made the effort because it has given me the motivation to go back and take a proper look.

Rafting
Mad though it may seem, the decision was taking to try ot some white water rafting on Saturday afternoon, just for the fun of it. Yes I know it was January and yes I know we were in the middle of Scotland, but what the hell! So, just before lunch we jumped in a mini-bus and headed North(ish) across the Forth Bridge and up the A9 in the direction of Ballinluig which is deep in the heart of the Tay Forest Park. This is also located near the foot of the Grampian mountains, so lots and lots of icy cold water was guaranteed! Thanks to the boys at Nae Limits for looking after us.

Saturday Night
Having survived the river Tay and all it could throw at us, we headed back to the hotel for hot showers, hot food and hot drinks.

An hour or so later we all congregated in the bar and presented Andy with his outfit for the evening. Top marks to Steve for supplying it and even more so to Andy for actually wearing it for the entire evening (even if he did catch a cold).

We staggared from pub to pub and bar to bar and eventually ended up trawling some of the seediest night clubs you can imagine. I'm not sure how Edinburgh took to seeing Andy in a dress, but he looked better than the poor sod we saw running around in a fairy outfit. We had a great time and if I could remember through the drunken haze I would probably not want to say too much about it. I do remember ending up in the hotel bar at 4:30 Sunday morning and consciously thinking "Do I really want another drink?". I'm pretty certain I had one anyway, but who would know?

A big thank you must go out to Dan for organising it (I'm sure I still owe him some money), to Steve for getting the fancy dress, to Malcolm and Jane Hills for running me to and from the airport and to Andy for being a good sport. I'm looking forward to the wedding (May) and I'm sure much ale will be quaffed on that occassion too.
